MOVING TO BEIJING - SCHOOLING

Where to send your child to school is often one of the most-worried-about decisions. Don’t worry about the quality of the schooling, but rather whether you can get your children in to the school of your choice. Beijing offers some of the best international schools in the world, often better than schools offered back home. Spaces in international schools can be limited and there are often waiting lists so it's advisable to apply as early as possible. APA is here to provide you with all the necessary details for schooling and we can also help you with the decision as well as help you with the application process and liaise with the school on a family's behalf to monitor availability.

Some examples are:

l Western Academy of Beijing

l International School of Beijing[k2][k1]

l Beijing City International School (BCIS)

l British School of Beijing and BISS.

If you would like your children to follow your home curriculum, don’t worry! In addition to international schools, there are "embassy schools" run expressly for the purpose of educating their nationals (the Japanese School, German School, Pakistani School, and French School, for example), which usually require students to be passport holders of that country.

If you want your children to experience total immersion, you are in luck! Recent laws have changed so that expatriate children now have the option to consider local schooling as well. However, it is important to note that it is very different from Western education, so you might also consider bilingual schools or after-school Chinese classes.

Beijing has one special needs school, the Sunshine Learning Center, which provides education to children with intellectual disabilities such as autism and Down's syndrome.
