Moving to Changsha
Changha, the capital of Hunan province, is a comparatively small city located in the center of China. It has a population of 2.7 million, which is considerably less than most provincial capitals on China’s Eastern seaboard. Hunan is the birth place of the famous political figure Mao Zedong, as well as, a large number of other eminent Chinese political figures: former President Liu Shaoqi, warlord and Long March Marshal, He Long; Communist Party head and contemporary reformer Hu Yaobang. While infrastructure development in Changsha and neighbouring Xiangtan is moving ahead at a great speed, Changsha lags behind most other eastern provincial capitals.
The city sits next to Yuelu Mountain and extends along the Xiang River. Unlike many other Chinese cities that tend to teeter between two seasons (winter and summer), Changsha offers four distinctive seasons. The summers are long with hot temperatures and heavy rainfall, while snow is not uncommon in winter.
The city is developing as a commercial and industrial center.
